About Jeurys Familia
The New York Mets feel like they are in good hands in the ninth inning when they turn the ball over to closer Jeurys Familia. At the onset of the 2016 season, Famlia set a new Mets record for consecutive saves as well as consecutive saves to start a season. He was selected to his first All-Star team. In his first season as closer in 2015, Familia recorded 43 saves and a 1.85 ERA for the World Series-bound Mets. His first full major league season came in 2014. Familia appeared in 76games, posted a 2.21 ERA and finished seventh in National League Rookie of the Year voting. From 2012-2013, he had appeared in 17 games, but did not qualify as a rookie until 2014. Familia was signed as an international free agent out of the Dominican Republic in 2007.
