About Joe Mazzulla
Joe Mazzulla is the head coach of the Boston Celtics. Mazzulla had a meteoric rise to first getting named the interim coach of the Celtics in 2022 and then getting the permanent job later that season. He was named Eastern Conference Coach of the Month in each of his first two months on the job. Mazzulla's first NBA experience was as a Boston assistant from 2019-22. He had previously led Division II Fairmont State to back-to-back 20-win seasons as head coach. Mazzulla had familiarity with the Boston organization from the 2016-17 season when he was an assistant for the G-League affiliate Maine Red Claws. He began his coaching career prior to that as an assistant with Glenville State and Fairmont State. Mazzulla had a successful college playing career at West Virginia, where he was a captain and led the Mountaineers to the Final Four as a junior in 2010.
