About John Mallinger
John Mallinger enjoyed a successful junior and prep career in Long Beach, California before heading off to the University of Southern California to play his college golf for the Trojans. After earning his degree in marketing he turned pro in 2002 and began what has become a very successful pro career on the Nationwide Tour and PGA Tour. Prior to joining the PGA Tour in 2006 he won two events on the NGA Hooters Tour. During his first full season of PGA Tour competition he won $1.6 million in earnings, and finished as the runner-up in the 2007 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year voting. In 2008 he once again topped $1 million in earnings and had another successful year in 2009, placing 5th at The Players Championship and 2nd at the US Bank Championship. After finishing in the top 50 on the money list for the first time in 2009 he posted his best major finish, placing 22nd at the 2010 U.S. Open. Mallinger is a member of the Virginia Country Club in his hometown of Long Beach, California, and cherishes the time he gets to spend playing the sport he loves for a living.
