John Terry

John George Terry stands as one of the most successful and influential center-backs who played football in recent times. He progressed through both West Ham and Chelsea youth programs before making his Chelsea senior debut in 1998 while José Mourinho appointed him as club captain in 2004.

The 6'3" tall defender Terry used his physical strength together with his positional awareness and aerial ability and goal-scoring talent to become the Premier League's top-scoring defender with 67 goals while leading Chelsea to five Premier League titles and five FA Cups and three League Cups and the 2012 Champions League and the 2013 Europa League victories.

The UEFA Club Defender of the Year award went to Terry three times from 2005 to 2009 and he received the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award in 2005 while earning five consecutive FIFPro World XI selections from 2005 through 2009. The 2006 World Cup all-star selection included him as the only English player.

Terry started playing for England in 2003 and earned 78 caps while leading the national team from 2006 until 2012. The English national team maintained its defensive stability because of Terry's leadership despite his off-field problems.

He joined Aston Villa in 2017 to lead the team in the Championship before announcing his retirement in October 2018. He entered coaching right away by becoming an assistant manager at Villa and Leicester before joining Chelsea's academy as a coach in 2023.

Terry's intense ambition led him to obtain his UEFA Pro Licence while he stated his desire to become Chelsea manager but he recognizes he requires frontline leadership experience to reach this goal.

Terry has been married to his childhood love Toni since 2007 and they have twins together. The swimwear brand he co-owns with his name on it exists alongside his reputation for guiding young players as his legacy continues to shape Chelsea and the Premier League era he helped establish.
