Jose Coceres

Jose Coceres is a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina and is a self-taught golfer that has made it big on golf’s biggest stage. Conceres turned pro in 1986 and earned a place on the European Tour in 1990 after successfully completing qualifying school. During his 11 years on the European tour he won the 1994 Heineken Open Catalonia and 2000 Dubai Desert Classic in route to reaching a career high 13th on the Order of Merit. In 2001 he earned his PGA Tour Card and quickly became a solid competitor at major events, finishing 52nd at the 2001 U.S. Open, 10th at the 2002 PGA Championship and 34th at the 2003 Open Championship. In 2001 he won both the WorldCom Classic and the National Car Rental Golf Classic Disney. For his performance during his first year on the PGA Tour he was awarded the Olimpia de Oro in 2002, which is the highest sports award presented in the country of Argentina. Thus far in his professional career he has won 30 events and represented his home country at both the Alfred Dunhill Cup and World Cup.
