About Josh Doan
Josh Doan serves as an American right winger in professional ice hockey while joining the Buffalo Sabres organization. As the son of Shane Doan who played for the Arizona Coyotes Josh built his own hockey journey starting from Arizona youth development before becoming a key prospect. His selection as the 37th pick in the 2021 NHL Draft by the Coyotes allowed him to showcase his superior scoring skills in the USHL where he scored 70 points across 53 games to lead the Chicago Steel to the Clark Cup championship while receiving All-USHL Second Team recognition.
During his time at Arizona State University he took on the role of captain and established a freshman record for points in school history. During his two-year stint he accumulated 28 goals and 47 assists across 74 games and permanently marked his presence on the Sun Devils' roster.
After entering professional hockey in March 2023 Doan signed with Tucson Roadrunners in the AHL and quickly showed his skills. The 26 goals and 20 assists he scored in 62 games earned him a spot on the AHL All‑Rookie Team and a selection to the 2024 AHL All‑Star Game. The Columbus Blue Jackets faced his NHL debut on March 25, 2024, when Doan scored two goals, including the game-winner, in his first professional game. The Coyotes history shows Doan as the first player to score two goals during their initial NHL match.
During the 2024–25 season Doan played between the Utah Hockey Club and Tucson and recorded 7 goals and 12 assists in 51 NHL matches while becoming the Coyotes' franchise leader for rookie points. At the 2025 IIHF World Championship Doan played for Team USA where he scored one goal across nine games that led the U.S. team to win its first standalone gold medal since 1933.
The Buffalo Sabres acquired Doan in June 2025 to bring his youthful power alongside his established scoring talent and winning background as he advances in his NHL career. As the next generation of American hockey talent Josh Doan displays his potential through his intelligence on the ice combined with his natural leadership abilities and clutch game performances.
