About Junior Caminero
Junior Alberto Caminero Sánchez, born July 5, 2003, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, is a talented third baseman for the Tampa Bay Rays. Known for his power and defensive skills, Caminero has quickly risen through the Rays’ minor league system.
Originally signed by the Cleveland Indians in 2019, Caminero made his pro debut in 2021 and was traded to the Rays later that year. He impressed at every level, earning the Southern League MVP and Top MLB Prospect honors in 2023 while playing Double-A Montgomery Biscuits.
Caminero made his MLB debut in September 2023 and has since established himself as Tampa Bay’s everyday third baseman. Despite some injury setbacks in 2024, he continues to showcase elite bat speed and defensive prowess. With his mix of talent and determination, Caminero is poised to be a key player for the Rays in the years ahead.
