Justin Gatlin Biography

Justin Gatlin reached the peak of accomplishment in 2004 when he captured a gold medal in the 100-meter dash at the 2004 Athens Olympic games. Gatlin grew up in Pensacola, Florida and starred on the track at the University of Tennessee. While at Tennessee he won six consecutive NCAA titles and then turned pro after his sophomore year in 2002. The following year he won gold at the World Indoor Championships in the 60-meter dash, which set up his performance at the 204 Athens Olympics in which he won gold in the 100-meter, silver in the 4x100-meter relay and bronze in the 200-meter. In 2005 he won two gold medals in the 100- meter and 200-meter at the World Championships and has since captured a gold medal in the 60-meter at the 2012 World Indoor Championships, and two silvers at the 2013 World Championships in the 100-meter and 4x100-meter relay. In 2012 he returned to Olympic competition and won silver in the 4x100-meter relay and bronze in the 100-meter dash.
