About Kevin Smith
Kevin Smith had one of the greatest seasons in NCAA football history. In 2007, Smith ran for 2,566 yards on an FBS record 450 carries. His rushing total fell just 66 yards shy of Barry Sanders NCAA record. Smith was the first consensus first-team All-American in University of Central Florida history. The Knights won Conference USA with their running back earning C-USA Offensive Player of the Year honors. Smith is UCF’s all-time leading rusher, finishing with 4,864 yards and 45 touchdowns on 905 carries. The Detroit Lions selected him in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft. During his rookie season, Smith ran for 976 yards and scored eight touchdowns. His pro career was derailed by a series of injuries, but he still managed to play five seasons with the Lions. Smith subsequently got into coaching at the college level.
