About Laila Edwards
Laila Edwards made history in 2023 as the first black woman to lace up the skates for the U.S. National Hockey Team. The 19-year-old Edwards was plucked from the University of Wisconsin college team where she stars. That same year, she was named to the WCHA All-Rookie Team and was a finalist for Rookie of the Year. Edwards was also a key cog in the Badgers National Championship team by recording 27 points in 41 games during the season.
