About Lance Allred
Lance Allred was the first legally deaf player in NBA history. He spent time with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2008. During that time, Allred was also a two-time NBA D-League All-Star. Over a decade stretch, he played professionally for several teams internationally. Allred played collegiately at Utah and Weber State. During his senior year, he was a first-team All-Big Sky pick. In high school, the Salt Lake City native was the Gatorade Player of the Year in Utah in 1999. Due to his tremendous circumstances, Allred has found a new career as an author and motivational speaker. His book, published in 2009, is titled, “Longshot: The Adventures of a Deaf Fundamentalist Mormon Kid and His Journey to the NBA.”
