Lance Brooks

Lance Brooks is an American discus thrower who has qualified to compete in the 2012 Summer Olympics. As a child, Brooks participated in basketball, baseball and track and field, where he excelled at discus. During his senior year of high school, Brooks was the state discus champion. Brooks attended Millikin University where he continued playing basketball and track and field. He set a school record in discs, but did not consider seriously competing in the sport. After college, Brooks moved to Colorado to train and teach track and field at the high school level. Brooks qualified for the 2008 Olympic Trials, but he did not make the team. In 2009, Brooks finished fourth in discus at the US Outdoor Championships. At the 2011, National Outdoor Championships, he placed third in discus, and his final throw was good enough to qualify him for the 2011 World Championships. Brooks finished 13th at World’s.
