Larry Nelson

Larry Nelson is a professional golfer who has won numerous tournaments at the PGA Tour and Champions Tour. Prior to golf, Nelson played basketball and baseball in high school. It was not until the age of 21 that Nelson took up golf. While learning golf, Nelson studied the book The Five Fundamentals of Golf. He soon realized that he had a talent for the game. Nelson turned professional in 1971. Nelson qualified for the PGA Tour at 27, and his breakthrough year came in 1979 when he won twice and finished second in the money list. Nelson has won ten times on the PGA Tour, three of which were major championships. In 1981, Nelson earned his first major title at the PGA Championship. He was then victorious at the 1983 U.S. Open. Nelson has won 4 Japan Golf Tours, and 19 Champions Tours. In 2011, Nelson received the PGA Distinguished Service Award from the PGA of America.
