About Lauren Holiday
Lauren Cheney is an American professional soccer player who plays as midfield playmaker and forward. Cheney’s love for soccer began after watching her brother play the sport. She began playing soccer as a youth and played on boy’s team until 12 years old. Cheney attended UCLA where she was named a first-team AllAmerican and NSCAA Freshman of the Year. During her sophomore year, she was the runner-up for the women’s Hermann Trophy and Pac -10 Player of the Year. She became the first player in UCLA history to earn NSCAA/Adidas First-Team AllAmerican honors all four years of her career. Cheney played for the Pali Blues in 2009 where she helped the team go undefeated and clinch the championship title. The Boston Breakers as the second overall pick in the WPS Draft selected Cheney on January 15, 2010. Cheney was allocated in 2013 to play for FC Kansas City for their inaugural season of the National Women’s Soccer League. In 2014, FC Kansas City beat Seattle Reign FC in the 2014 Championship Game.
