About Lawrence Dawsey
Lawrence Dawsey is a former college and professional football player and he now serves as an assistant coach for Florida State University. Dawsey attended Florida State University where he played wide receiver. During his time with Florida State, he was recognized as an All-American. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Dawsey in the third round of the 1991 NFL Draft. As a rookie, Dawsey won the UPI NFL-NFC Rookie of the Year award. He spent 4 seasons with the Buccaneers before signing with the New York Giants in 1996. He played only one season with the Giants and signed with the Miami Dolphins in 1997. In 1999, he signed with the New Orleans Saints, where he played one season and retired. Dawsey’s first coaching job came as a high school assistant at Tampa Catholic in 1998. Dawsey’s first season with Florida State was in 2007. During his first year, FSU boasted three receivers with 700 or more receiving yards for the first time in school history.
