Lee Trevino

Lee Trevino has won 89 professional golf tournaments since turning pro in 1960. His wins include two US Open Championships in 1968 and 1971, two wins at The Open Championship in 1971 and 1972, and two PGA Championship titles in 1974 and 1984. In addition to six major championships, he has captured 23 additional titles on the PGA Tour, which ranks him 19th all-time. He has also been a standout performer on the Champions Tour, winning 29 tournaments, ranking him second all-time. Trevino led the PGA Tour in earnings in 1970 and was named both the SI Sportsman of the Year and Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year in 1971. His honors include winning the Vardon Trophy five times, the Byron Nelson Award in 1980, the Jack Nicklaus Trohpy three times, the Arnold Palmer Award in 1990 and 1992 and the PGA Tour Player of the Year Award in 1971. During his career he lent his talents to represent the United States at the Ryder Cup and won five titles to go along with two World Cup titles. Serving his country is not something that he took lightly, as he served in the United States Marine Corps for four years as a machine gunner prior to beginning his career as a professional golfer. Trevino was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1981.
