About Mack Brown
Mack Brown was one of the best college football coaches of the modern era. The highlight of Brown’s career was undoubtedly leading the Texas Longhorns to the BCS National Championship.
Brown's Texas teams were the model of consistency, spending 162 straight weeks ranked in the AP Top 25 from 2000-2010 and 192 weeks ranked in the coaches’ poll from 1998-2010.Brown also won two Big 12 titles, went 10-5 in bowl games, and had nine consecutive ten-win seasons while with the Longhorns.
Before his time in Austin, he also built North Carolina into a winner. Brown had three ten-win seasons with the Tar Heels and went to six straight bowl games at the end of his tenure.He also was a head coach at Tulane and Appalachian State.
Brown started his coaching career as a student at Florida State and had stops as an assistant at Southern Miss, Memphis, Iowa State, LSU, and Oklahoma.After leaving the University of Texas, Brown went into the broadcast booth with ESPN before returning to the sidelines in 2019 at a familiar place, UNC. In his second stint with the Tar Heels, he spent six years with the program and guided them to the ACC Coastal Division title in 2022.
