About Maelle Ricker
Maelle Ricker is a Canadian snowboarder and an Olympic gold medalist. Ricker specializes in snowboard cross and won her gold in the event at the 2010 Olympics. She was the first Canadian woman to win gold on home soil. She was also the 2013 World Champion in snowboard cross and won Winter X-Games gold in 1999 and 2006. Ricker also won a bronze at the 2005 World Championships and has two X-Games bronze medals. In addition to her Olympic run in Vancouver in 2010, she also competed at the 1998, 2006, and 2014 Games. In Turin in 2006, she advanced to the snowboard cross finals but had a brutal crash that left her concussed and with torn back muscles. Ricker’s brother sparked her interest for snowboarding in her teens. She is an ambassador for KidSport, working to get children involved in snowboarding.
