About Manu Bhakar
The Indian sport shooter Manu Bhakar has rapidly gained international recognition through her achievements. Born in 2002 in Haryana she tried tennis skating and boxing before choosing shooting at age 14. Under the guidance of coach Jaspal Rana Bhakar quickly advanced to become one of India's youngest and most successful shooters by winning gold medals at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and the Youth Olympic Games and the ISSF World Cup.
She achieved a historic double bronze medal victory at the 2024 Paris Olympics through her performances in the women's 10m air pistol and mixed 10m air pistol team events which brought great success to Indian shooting. Her exceptional achievements led to her receiving the 2025 Khel Ratna award. Bhakar attributes her ability to stay composed under stress to the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita. She continues to compete at the highest level while serving as a dedicated and excellent representative of Indian sports.
