About Mark Spitz
Mark Spitz was born on the California coast and swam in the Pacific Ocean everyday as a kid growing up in Honolulu, Hawaii. As a kid he ran into the ocean with reckless abandon, without fear of anything that may beneath the surface. It was as if he was meant to be there. As he grew older his obsession with the water turned into a successful competitive swimming career that would eventually result in 11 Olympic Medals, including 9 golds, a silver and a bronze.
Due to his early success at the 1968 and 1972 Olympic Games he was able to retire at age 22 and move on to a career in entertainment. Since his retirement he’s appeared in television, movies, commercials and documentaries, often times lending his trusted and respected name to endorse products and companies.
In addition to his successful entertainment career he’s also been involved in several business ventures and has become a highly sought after motivational speaker. When he’s not working he enjoys sailing, skiing, and spending time with his family. As one of the most iconic athletes of all time, he’ll be forever remembered for his historic Olympic performances.
