About Martin Laird
Martin Laird, a Scottish native, is a professional golfer on the PGA Tour. Laird moved to the United States at age 17 and attended Colorado State University on a golf scholarship. Graduating with a degree in marketing in 2004, he debuted professionally that same year. Laird’s first notable victories came in the Nationwide Tour and Gateway Tour in his early professional years. Since, Laird has found his most success on the PGA Tour, where he has obtained three tour wins, his largest amount of tour wins on a single tour in his professional career to date. Laird also achieved a memorable victory in 2011 as he claimed the Arnold Palmer Invitational title. As a long hitter, Laird has ranked in the top 20 on the PGA Tour average driving distance for many years. Coming from an athletic family, Laird is cousin to association football player David Weatherston and son-in-law to professional golfer Hank Franks.
