About Martina Hingis
Martina Hingis is a Switzerland born professional tennis player. Throughout her playing career, Hingis spent a total of 209 weeks ranked as the world’s number one tennis player. Hingis was born in Czechoslovakia in 1980 to accomplished tennis players Melanie Molitorová and Karol Hingis. In fact, Martina’s mother was once ranked tenth and her father nineteenth in Czechoslovakia tennis rankings. It was no surprise when Martina entered her first tournament at age four and went on to set a series of “youngest-ever” records. Debuting professionally at age fourteen, Hingis holds an exuberant amount of titles and although retired from singles, her singles career record was an impressive 548-133. While Hingis still competes in doubles, she also honorably shares her skill, experience, and wisdom as the Sabine Lisicki coach and previously as the Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova coach.
