About Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist starred on the biggest stage in college basketball, helping lead Kentucky to the NCAA championship in 2012. That year, he was named a consensus second-team All-American and a first-team All-SEC selection.
Kidd-Gilchrist parlayed the strong season into being the second overall pick in the NBA Draft by the Charlotte Bobcats. With averages of nine points and 5.8 rebounds per game during his rookie season, he was named to the NBA All-Rookie second team in 2013.
Kidd-Gilchrist spent almost his entire career with the Charlotte franchise. In retirement, he has gone on to advocate for people with stutters and speech disorders.
Before his standout college and pro career, the New Jersey native was a consensus top-three recruit in the country coming out of powerhouse St. Patrick High School.Kidd-Gilchrist was Mr. Basketball USA and Co-MVP of the McDonald’s All-American Game his senior year.
