Mike Davis

Mike Davis is the pride of Fayette, Alabama and got his start in college basketball at the University of Alabama after being named the state’s Mr. Basketball in 1979. During his time playing for the Crimson Tide from 1979 to 1983 he compiled 165 steals, which ranks him third all-time in school history. Upon earning his degree from Alabama he was selected in the second round of the 1983 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks but chose instead to pursue a professional career abroad in Italy. In 1989 he returned to the states as an assistant coach at Miles College and then worked his way up the college coaching ladder at Chicago, Alabama and Indiana from 1990 to 2000 before being named head coach at the University of Indiana in 2000. During his six years at Indiana he led the Hoosiers to 115 wins and four NCAA Tournament appearances including a runner-up finish at the NCAA National Championship. In 2006 he headed to UAB and won 122 more games before being hired as Texas Southern in 2012. During his decorated career he has led his teams to four conference titles in the Conference USA, Big Ten and Southwestern Athletic Conference, including a SWAC regular season title in 2013 and SWAC Tournament title in 2014.
