Mike MacIntyre

Mike MacIntyre is a native of Miami, Florida, which made him a perfect choice to lead the program at Florida International University. MacIntyre got his start in big-time college football as a defensive back at Vanderbilt University and Georgia Tech University from 1984 to 1988. Upon earning his undergraduate degree in business management from Georgia Tech in 1989 he joined the University of Georgia coaching staff as a graduate assistant in 1990. After two seasons at UGA he headed to Davidson in 1992 and then served as an assistant at Tennessee-Martin, Temple, and the University of Mississippi from 1993 to 2002 before making the leap to the NFL as a defensive backs coach with the Dallas Cowboys in 2003. He’d go on to serve in that same position with the New York Jets in 2007 before returning to the college ranks as the defensive coordinator at Duke in 2008. In 2010 Coach MacIntyre was hired as the new head coach at San Jose State.

After a 10-2 season in 2012, MacIntyre was hired to head up the University of Colorado program. He found some success with the Buffaloes, most notably a 2016 season where CU went 10-4, captured the Pac-12 South Division and finished in the top 25. That year MacIntyre won several national coaching awards and was named Pac-12 Coach of the Year. He left Boulder in 2018, spent the 2019 season as the defensive coordinator at Ole Miss and was named defensive coordinator at Memphis in 2020. After two seasons with the Tigers, MacIntyre was tapped to take over the Panthers program.
