About Mike Massaro
Mike Massaro grew up in Machester, Connecticut and was exposed to motorsports as child while watching his father race NASCAR Modified stock cars. After earning his undergraduate degree in speech from Emerson College in Boston he became the public address announcer at Stafford Motor Speedway and was later promoted to PR director where he served until 1997. The following year he became a reporter for MRN Radio until being hired as a reporter for Inside NASCAR on TNN in 2000. During that time he also served as a pit reporter for NBC Sports and TBS Sports. Massaro was hired by ESPN in 2001, and has since become an award-winning reporter for NASCAR, SportsCenter, Outside the Lines, ESPNEWS, and ESPN Radio. A decorated broadcaster and reporter, Massaro earned the NMPA Award for best television feature in 1999, and received the NMPA Award and Russ Catlin Motorsports Journalism Award in 2000. He has since won three Catlin Awards and earned induction into the Manchester Sports Hall of Fame in 2011.
