About Mike Matheny
Mike Matheny has a great legacy in baseball as both a player and manager. He had a three-year run guiding the Kansas City Royals from 2020-22 after a seven-year successful managerial tenure with the St. Louis Cardinals. Matheny had the unique distinction of leading his team to the playoffs in each of his first four seasons and making it as far as the NLCS in each of his first three years.
Matheny built respect on the bench following a 13-year playing career. He was a four-time Gold Glove-winning catcher that experienced most of his success in St. Louis. Matheny set catching records for consecutive games played without an error and consecutive chances fielded without an error.
Off the field, Matheny is a devout Christian who often participates in faith-based speaking events.
