Neil Parry

Neil Parry is an inspiration to hundreds of children, football fans, and disabled athletes. Parry played football for San Jose State University who suffered a compound fracture of his right leg on the October 14 game against the University of Texas El Paso. On October 23, Parry had a portion of his right leg amputated, and he insisted that he would play again. During this time, Parry never asked the question, “why me?” He continued to keep an upward look and never looked back. Six months after the surgery, Parry started running again. It took three years before he was back on the field of San Jose State, covering a punt. After losing his leg, Parry became more whole as he started attending class more, increased his grades, and stopped drinking. Before he ever played again, Parry underwent 28 surgeries. Forty surgeries later, Parry is back on the field as a college football coach with a prosthetic leg.
