About Orlando Cruz
Orlando Cruz is a professional boxer. Cruz made his professional debut on December 15, 2000 in a match against Alfredo Valdez in Puerto Rico. Cruz was undefeated until Cornelius Lock defeated Cruz with a TKO in 2009. The World Boxing Organization currently ranks Cruz as No. 4 among featherweights. Cruz participated in the 2000 Olympic games where he represented Puerto Rico. Cruz became the first boxer to come out as gay on October 4, 2012. After coming out, Cruz wore rainbow colored shorts to support the LGBT movement. He also wore pink boxing gloves and his robe was trimmed with pink to support breast cancer awareness. Cruz married his boyfriend Jose Manuel Colon on November 16, 2013 in Central Park. On August 2, 2013, Cruz was among the first class of inductees into the National Gay and Lesbian Sports Hall of Fame. Cruz’s boxing record his currently 25 total fights with 20 wins, 4 losses, and 1 draw.
