About Phil Kessel
Phil Kessel is one of the best American-born hockey players in the world today. Kessel is well known for his appearances with Team USA at the 2010 and 2014 Olympics. In 2014, he had five goals in six games and was named the top forward of the Olympic tournament. Kessel also overcame a testicular cancer diagnosis to continue with a successful rookie season for the Boston Bruins. For his fortitude, he was awarded the NHL’s Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. Kessel has gone on to be a three-time All-Star with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He has been to the postseason three times, twice with Boston and once with Toronto. In 2013, the Leafs signed Kessel to an eight-year contract extension. The Bruins originally selected him fifth overall in 2006 out of the University of Minnesota. Kessel played just one year for the Gophers and earned WCHA Rookie of the Year honors.
