About Rich Lerner
Rich Lerner serves as a sports broadcasting veteran who works at Golf Channel and NBC Sports while writing essays. After graduating from Temple University in 1983 he started his professional career in local TV before joining Golf Channel in 1997. During nearly three decades Lerner established himself as the main voice for PGA Tour live broadcasts and flagship shows Golf Central Live From and feature documentaries including the award-winning Se Ri Pak, A Champion’s Journey.
His tournament pre- and post-game essays receive praise as poetic pieces which CBS's Jim Nantz describes as "poetic" and his major-championship storytelling has set new standards for golf journalism. The Women’s Sports Foundation Journalism Award and Telly Award and Temple University’s Lewis Klein Alumni Hall of Fame honor have been awarded to Lerner for his outstanding work.
Lerner provides play-by-play commentary for NBC Olympics broadcasts in addition to his golf coverage while serving as part of the Emmy-winning NBC Olympics team.
The couple lives in Maitland Florida with their two sons Jesse and Jack while hosting an annual charity Pro-Am that supports neonatal care. Through his work Lerner guides future sports journalists while maintaining his position as a respected and trusted voice in golf broadcasting.
