About Richard Childress
Richard Childress has a long legacy in NASCAR. He started out as a driver, running 285 races in the top series from 1969-1981. When Childress got out of the car for good however, his fame in the sport really took off. He partnered with the iconic Dale Earnhardt to form one of the most dominant racing teams in the sport. With Earnhardt, Richard Childress Racing won six NASCAR championships. Childress was able to expand his empire from that and his team became the first to capture titles in all three of NASCAR's national championship series. Overall, RCR has won four Xfinity Series and two Camping World Truck Series titles. Currently, Childress has his grandsons Austin and Ty Dillon both a part of his racing team. In 2016, he found out that his legendary career in the sport would be honored by induction into the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
