Richard Hamilton

Richard Hamilton began his career in basketball when he was in college while playing for the University of Connecticut. While there he earned the Big East Player of the Year Award in his final two seasons, and led his team to a national title in his final season as well as being named the 1999 NCAA Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. It then became time for Richard to make the next step up to the NBA. He became the 7th overall selection in the 1999 NBA Draft. After playing successfully with the Washington Wizards Richard was traded to the Detroit Pistons where he became an instrumental part of winning the 2004 NBA Championship as well as leading the team to six consecutive Eastern Conference Finals appearances from 2003 to 2008. Off of the court Richard has worked with several charities involving children in an effort to give back, including the Read to Achieve program and an appearance on Disney Channel where he helped teach basketball and a lesson of friendship.
