About Richard Pitino
Richard Pitino is the head men's basketball coach at Xavier. While in college he was not a player but instead was an assistant coach for his alma mater. His first job out of school was at the College of Charleston where he became an administrative assistant. From then in 2004 until 2011, Pitino was an assistant coach and was able to continue to gain valuable experience, learn the many caveats of coaching, and build his resume. In 2012 he got his big break when he became the head coach at FIU for a season. In his short head coaching career, he has led Minnesota to the NIT Championship in 2014, and in the process secured the programs record 25th win in a single season.
