Rick Smith is the executive vice president and general manager of the Houston Texans. He originally became the youngest general manager in the NFL in 2006. He is a member of the NFL's Competition Committee and the General Managers Advisory Committee. Smith has been instrumental in building a roster that has won three AFC South Division titles and made four playoff appearances. He has drafted star defensive players like Jadeveon Clowney and J.J. Watt during his tenure. Smith also found undrafted free agent Arian Foster, who went on to become the leading rusher in franchise history. He first got experience in the front office as the head of the Denver Broncos pro personnel department from 2000-05. Smith won two Super Bowl rings as an assistant defensive backs coach with the Broncos. He began his coaching career at his alma mater, Purdue University.
