About Ricky Berens
Ricky Berens is a former competition swimmer. He began his career in college at the University of Texas at Austin where he swam for the swimming and diving team from 2007 to 2010. In that time he won his first gold medal in international competition in the 4x100 meter medley relay at the 2007 Pan American Games. He later went on to the 2008 Summer Olympics and alongside Michael Phelps, he won the gold medal in the mens 4x200 meter freestyle relay. In 2010 he graduated from college and joined Trojan Aquatics to be coached by Dave Salo. Berens has since gone on to compete in the 2010 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships and the 2011 World Championships before he competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics and again won the gold medal in the mens 4x200 meter freestyle relay. While he stated he would retire after the games, he continued to swim until November 2013 when he officially retired
