About Rui Hachimura
Rui Hachimura became the first player of Japanese descent to be selected in the first round of the NBA Draft when he was taken with the ninth pick in 2019 by the Washington Wizards. Hachimura was born and raised in Japan, coming stateside to play at Gonzaga in 2016. He was a two-time first-team All-West Coast Conference selection. In Hachimura's final season, he averaged 19.7 points and 6.5 rebounds per game on the way to winning WCC Player of the Year. He was also named a consensus first-team All-American. Hachimura was just the fifth Japanese player to suit up in Division 1 basketball and the first to play in the NCAA Tournament. He also stars for Japan's national team.
