Sage Kotsenburg

Sage Kotsenburg is an Olympic gold medalist snowboarder. Although born in Idaho in 1993, Kotsenburg moved to Utah at a very young age. He spent the majority of his early childhood snowboarding with his siblings, picking up the sport at the age of 5. Kotsenburg was homeschooled in order to have more time to focus on his training and made his U.S. Open debut by the age of 12. By the age of 16, he became an Olympic medalist as he obtained a silver at the 2010 Winter X Games in Tignes, France. After landing the first-ever Cab double cork 1440 the following year, Kotsenburg was named to the U.S. Snowboarding Slopestyle Pro Team. He went on to honorably represent his country and earn a bronze medal at the 2011 Winter X Games in Aspen, a silver at the 2012 Winter X Games in Aspen, and became a gold medalist at the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi. Kotsenburg invented his own move at the 2014 Olympic Games, one that has never been landed before, that he refers to as the “Holy Crail”. With a creative and innovative mind and a hard work ethic, it is no surprise that he was the first gold medalist of the 2014 Olympic Games in addition to earning the first medal for the United States. Kotsenburg continues to train hard year-round, training at a snowboarding summer camp in the off-season.
