About Sean Avery
Sean Avery is a North York, Ontario native and played 16 seasons in the NHL for the Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers and Dallas Stars. During his time in the league from 1996 to 2012 he was one of the most popular players in the NHL due to his skill on the ice and his attitude while playing the game night in and night out. During his career he scored 90 goals and recorded 157 assists for a total of 247 points in 580 career games. In addition to playing hockey he was also a successful model and actor, blending the two during appearances on such popular television shows as Project Runway and Fashion Police. Since retiring from the NHL he has joined the board of directors of Athlete Ally, a nonprofit organization focused on ending homophobia and trans-phobia in sports, and has also appeared in several ads that promote marriage equality in the United States. Currently he is also a member of the advertising and creative agency Lipman based out of New York City.
