About Sean Kelly
Sean Kelly is one of the best road cyclists of all-time and dominated his opponents throughout the late 1970’s and 1980’s. From 1977 to 1994 he won 193 professional races and nine monument classic races. For seven straight seasons he won the Paris Nice and went on to win the Giro di Lombardia, Milan- San Remo, Paris-Roubaix and Lieg-Bastogne-Liege multiple times during his career. In 1982 and 1989 Kelly captured gold at the World Road Race Championships and went on to become the first racer to be ranked No. 1 in the FICP rankings, which is a position, he would hold for six consecutive years. His best season came in 1984 when he captured a record 33 victories over the span of eight months. After retiring from cycling he became a broadcaster for Eurosport and in 2007 had a race named after him called the Sean Kelly Tour of Waterford.
