About Sofia Huerta
Sofia Huerta serves as a defender for OL Reign in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) while playing for the team. The United States Women's National Team (USWNT) selected Huerta as a member in 2017 after she initially represented Mexico's national team.
Sofia Huerta started her college soccer career at Santa Clara University where she played forward and received All-American recognition. The Chicago Red Stars drafted Huerta as their 11th overall pick during the 2015 NWSL Draft. The Chicago Red Stars traded Huerta to the Houston Dash before she joined OL Reign in 2020. The OL Reign loaned Huerta to Olympique Lyonnais in France for a period extending from 2024 until June 2025.
Huerta received FIFA approval to change her national association before making her USWNT debut in 2017. The player has obtained more than thirty international caps while playing for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup team. Throughout her professional career Huerta has demonstrated versatility by moving from forward to defender positions.
Through her family's nonprofit organization Hello Pitty Rescue Huerta dedicates time to animal rescue work. The organization allowed Huerta to adopt two dogs named Daisy and Clover.
