About Starling Marte
Starling Marte is a professional baseball outfielder for the Oakland Athletics. In 2007, Marte signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Marte spent 2007-12 in the minor leagues where he played for the Bradenton Marauders, Altoona Curve, and Indianapolis Indians. While in the minors, Marte represented the Pittsburgh Pirates at the 2011 All-Star Futures Game. That same year, Marte was an Eastern League Mid-Season All-Star and Post-Season All-Star along with a Baseball America Double-A All-Star, Topps Double-A All-Star and Milb.com organization All-Star. He was also named the Eastern League Rookie of the Year and won the Eastern League Batting Title.
On July 26, 2012, Marte was promoted to the Pirates. On his first professional at-bat, Marte hit a home run on the first pitch he faced. In eight seasons with Pittsburgh, Marte was an All-Star and two-time Gold Glove winner. He went on to also play for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Miami Marlins before being traded to Oakland in 2021.
