About Stephon Marbury
Stephon Marbury was one of the most dazzling point guards during his 13-year NBA career. Born and raised in Brooklyn New York in the late 1970’s, Marbury did not always have aspirations of being a professional basketball player. Playing AAU basketball throughout high school, Marbury was later recruited by Georgia Tech after being recognized as one of the top 5 recruits in 1995. From there, he went on to take the starting point guard position while making a name for himself and earning eligibility for the 1996 NBA draft. “Starbury” played for five different NBA teams throughout his early years, including the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Phoenix Suns, New Jersey Nets, and Minnesota Timberwolves. Marbury was a two-time NBA All-Star and two-time All-NBA Third Team selection. He also endured an extreme personal hardship when his father passed away during one of his games with the Knicks in 2007. Taking a year off after his final season in the NBA as a Boston Celtic, Marbury then went on to sign with a team in the CBA (Chinese Basketball Association) the following year. He became one of the most popular athletes ever in China, winning three league championships with the Beijing Ducks.
