About Steve Downie
Steve Downie, a prominent member of the National Hockey League, started his career with the NHL in 2005 with the Philadelphia Flyers after being selected in the first round. Suffering from a hearing impairment in one ear, Downie has never let that get in the way of living up to his potential and following his dreams. After growing up in Holland Landing, Ontario and playing hockey throughout his entire childhood, Downie has also had to live with the tragedy of his father’s death that occurred in 1996 while he was driving Steve to hockey practice. Clearly a fighter and a dedicated hockey player, Downie has served as a phenomenal right wing for numerous teams, including the Pittsburgh Penguins, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Colorado Avalanche. Downie is currently a team member of the Pittsburgh Penguins, which he has been with since 2007.
