About Steve Mariucci
Steve Mariucci has had a lifetime in football full of success as a coach and broadcaster. Mariucci is best known for his head coaching tenure with the San Francisco 49ers from 1997-2002. He made four playoff appearances and won two NFC West Division titles. Mariucci was also the head coach of the Detroit Lions for three seasons. After leaving the NFL, he found success as an analyst on the NFL Network.
Mariucci originally began his coaching career as a coach at his alma mater, Northern Michigan. He rose up the ranks gaining respect as an offensive mind, making stops at Cal State Fullerton, Louisville, USC and Cal. Mariucci also coached wide receivers in the USFL with the Orlando Renegades. His work as the quarterbacks coach with a young Brett Favre for the Green Bay Packers ultimately led to his first head coaching job at Cal for a year and then subsequently with the Niners.
