About Steve Spurrier
Steve Spurrier is a college football legend. A former player himself, Spurrier played college football for the Florida Gators, where he was a two-time All-American quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner, earning him the prestigious induction into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1986. Spurrier went back to his beloved alma mater in 1978 as the Gators’ QB coach. However, prior to his coaching career, Spurrier played professional football for ten years, making his debut in the 1967 NFL Draft with the San Francisco 49ers and culminating his playing career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1976. After retiring from the NFL, Spurrier knew he could not retire from the game entirely. He went on to coach with the Tampa Bay Bandits, Washington Redskins, Duke University, his beloved Gators, and currently the University of South Carolina. He achieved great milestones at all three stops. Spurrier won the ACC with the Blue Devils, won a national championship with the Gators and recorded three straight ten-win seasons with the Gamecocks.
