About Suzy Hotrod
Suzy Hotrod began playing roller derby at the commencement of the sport, making her one of the sports longest participators. Suzy was born in Lindenwold, New Jersey in 1980 and although she had an athletic upbringing, she stopped playing sports altogether after her first year of high school. In fact, she admitted in her skating debut in 2004 that she had not previously exercised for four years. Before turning to skating, Hotrod played guitar in a punk band and worked in photography. However, she awakened her inner athlete and started training with the Gotham Girls Roller Derby league while residing in New York. Immediately excelling at the sport. Suzy went on to become captaion of Gotham’s “Queen of Pains” team and has since captained the team to three league titles. In addition, Hotrod was honorably selected to represent Team USA as a co-captain to participate in the first ever Roller Derby World Cup in 2011 along with thirteen other countries. Roller derby has now become the fastest growing women’s sports in the world.
