Svetlana Kuznetsova

Svetlana Aleksandrovna Kuznetsova, born in Russia in 1985, is a 2004 U.S. Open Tennis Champion. Kuznetsova was destined for greatness as her father coached five Olympic and world cycling champions, her mother was a six-time world champion and holder of twenty records in cycling, and her brother was a silver medalist in the 1996 Summer Olympics in cycling. With athletic genes undoubtedly running in the family, Kuznetsova moved to Spain when she was thirteen to receive better coaching and training in tennis. Extremely dedicated to say the least, Kuznetsova continued playing even after noted kidney failure. Her husband gave his own kidney to save her life, which was extraordinarily coincidental that it happened to be a match. Moving on stronger than ever, Svetlana became known for her rapid speed on the court and her exceptional topspin deliveries. While she became the third Russian women to win a Grand Slam title at the 2004 U.S. Open, Svetlana has since earned numerous titles and has steadily climbed up the ranking every single year. At this rater, Svetlana is destined to top the ranks of the international tennis charts in the years to come.
