About Tina Charles
Tina Charles is a savvy WNBA veteran who joined the Connecticut Sun in 2010 as the No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA draft after a historic career at the University of Connecticut. Her career at UConn included back-to-back NCAA Championships in 2009 and 2010 and winning the NCAA National Player of the Year award in 2010. After joining the Sun in 2010 she earned WNBA Rookie of the Year honors in her first season after breaking the WNBA record for most rebounds in a season with 398. Since that time she’s earned three consecutive WNBA All-Star selections, led the league in rebounding three times and was named the 2012 WNBA Most Valuable Player. In 2012 she teamed up with other WNBA stars to lead Team USA to a Gold Medal in the London Olympics, which she considers her proudest accomplishment yet. In 2014 she was traded to the New York Liberty, where she continues to be a force down low and serves as a respected leader on and off the court.
