About Tom Hicks
Tom Hicks is the former owner of the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Stars. As the chairman of Hicks Holdings LLC, he also owns and operates Hick Sports Group, which purchased both teams and also ran and operated the Mesquite Championship Rodeo. He has acquired much of his fortune through different business endeavors including energy, soft drinks and investing. In his hometown of Frisco, Texas he has an elementary school named after him called Tom Hicks Elementary School, which was built on land he donated to the Lewisville Independent School District. The Stars were the first sports team that Hicks purchased, but not the last, as his group would go on to purchase the Rangers and Liverpool F.C. In 2000 Hicks was awarded the Henry Cohn Humanitarian Award from the Anti-Defamation League, recognizing his many philanthropic contributions throughout the community and the nation.
